A Hole In Liverpool Midfield

Watching Liverpool drew 1-1 with Birmingham shows how Liverpool badly miss Xabi Alonso. No one is able to fill his position and keep feeding the wingers and strikers. All is depending on Steven Gerard which is heavily marked and not in top form. As a Liverpool supporter, I am sad to say that I don't believe Liverpool will get 4th placing this year. They will probably make it top 6. If no money going to spend on this summer, Liverpool is doomed next season.

Another win from Man Utd will end Liverpool's title dream. Or 3 slip ups from Man Utd will give Liverpool a fighting chance.

So what went wrong up to now for Liverpool this season?

Torres injury. Torres hasn't been fit until only lately. If he would play more matches, Liverpool might win more draw matches.

Keane factor. Robbie Keane was a darn bloody fantastic player when he was in Tottenham. However, he was off form for Liverpool and his spat with Benitez made him a bench warmer.

Management issues. Benitez delaying contract could be a factor of distraction to the manager.

Skrtel's injury. Skrtel was in form for Liverpool this season. He absent due to injury from the team was a big loss.

No matter how there's a few more matches to go and I believe in miracle, if there's any left.

It's a dim chance.

After Man Utd's win against Aston Villa, Liverpool's chances are becoming lower. Its not going to end, but just lower.

Around 7-8 matches left, anything can STILL happen.

It's left for the strongest to win the title now. Even though Man Utd is leading the league right now, a few draws would see them dropped to 2nd place.

Another thing is Chelsea, they are still trailing with single points. They still can upset the rest.

If Porto can drew with Man Utd, something must be wrong.

Chelsea 3-2 Liverpool. Benitez's masterplan failed today as Chelsea picked up the goals on extra time instead of Liverpool. Chelsea deserved the victory and Alex Ferguson's biggest nightmare has just begun. God knows why Benitez took off Torres for Babel which he scored the last goal. Lets do a fast recap, Drogba scored, followed by Torres, Essien's goal was disallowed followed by Lampard's penalty and Drogba's second goal of the night. Babel scored the last goal for Liverpool. Great game, Chelsea deserved to go to Moscow. Let's back to Ferguson's nightmare. The worst case scenario is Chelsea still can pipped Man Utd for the league title and... and... Chelsea still can beat Man Utd for the Champions League final. That will be the biggest sucker punch for Man Utd. Remember the ball is round. An "English" Champions League Final...

Man Utd has made it into final to a very much "English" Champions League Final. Love it or hate it, EPL has evolved to such strong position in Euro that they have 3 English teams in the semis. The days of Italians or Spanish giants dominations are finally over. In this past few years, English teams are getting more places at semis and finals than ever before. Tonight's Chelsea and Liverpool game will be an explosive one. My bet will be still on Liverpool. We will see an offensive Liverpool tonight and hope for the dream final: Liverpool Vs. Man Utd. Torres HITS 30!

Torres hits his 30th goal for the first season for Liverpool. Liverpool defeated Blackburn 3-1 at Anfield. Liverpool clear 5 points off Everton. The fourth place is certain but the big ticket is still the Champions League. I personally think the issues surrounding Liverpool must be solved by this summer for any real threats for the title next season.

LIVERPOOL 4-2 ARSENAL: End Of Trilogy in Style!!

At this moment, I am speechless. The Gunners gunned out in style with one of best Champions League Games ever! I would never say Arsenal was weak but rather unlucky. The sequence of goals are like this Diaby scored first, equalised by Hypia (god knows how long he had scored the last CPL goal), then Torres (el-nino stunner), equalized by Adebayor (a pass from Walcott ala Maradona running down 3-4 defenders), Gerrard scored penalty (Toure controversially brought down Babel) and lastly the finale Ryan Babel solo efforts. I think I should stop here about this game.

Wait.. wait.. wait... You know the ironic of whats coming up next. Liverpool Vs. Chelsea CPL Semi Final. I would say this is Liverpool V Chelsea Part 3! The best part is, there is already one English team confirmed to the final. And the dream final for many football fans can be realized now... Liverpool Vs. Man Utd. Its up to Roma to destroy them tomorrow or let them pass. Its still early to say anything yet but football is always round! You never walk alone!

Arsenal getting pissed with Liverpool

I don't blame them. Arsenal held again 1-1 by Peter Crouch decreasing their hopes of landing the title this season. Well, the last encounter will be upcoming Tuesday. We will see how the last battle of this 2 teams.

Liverpool held Arsenal, Chelsea got TURKed!

Liverpool held Arsenal for 1-1 draw for UEFA Champions League 1st Leg Quater Final at Emirates Stadium. Chelsea got TurkED Badly in Turkey losing 1-2 to Fenerbahce. I guess Chelsea is no longer invincible anymore under Israeli coach Grant. With Mourinho around, things might be different. Arsenal was frustrated and Liverpool will welcome them at Anfield.

Liverpool Total LossED?

A bad Refereeing decision basically Killed the game. Its okay if Liverpool didn't win the game. At least at a fair playing level. Torres was basically abused and referee was no where seen. I don't mind Man Utd won, but with dignity. Not with cheap tactics like this. They might deserved to be champions, but in such a way, they are pretty cheap skates... Liverpool is impossible to do any miracle right now but there's only one hope left, the Champions League.... Remember, Man Utd, the trophy you won in 1999, is in Liverpool. Pls pay if you want to see the cup, but its Liverpool's!

It has been 7 games since Liverpool beat Man Utd. If Benitez really want to go for the impossible, tonight will be the chance. However, is that even a possibility? Big games like this is always defensive but for the time and the position now, Man Utd must have 3 pts tonight. Chelsea gonna play Arsenal in the other big match. We would see how it goes.

Liverpool has no more choices. FA CUP, League Cup and the title race is over. Only left one cup that is within the reach but in a very difficult way. After defeated by lowly Barnsley, Liverpool rebounded by thrashing Inter Milan 2-0. The way this things go is, only Champions League Cup will save Benitez from firing this season. Like it or not, Benitez will have a tough time and Liverpool is going to have a tougher time.

Benitez is hanging on a thin line and Liverpool just did fine to thrash Luton for FA Cup 3rd Round Replay. Babel started the goal fest with Stevie G's hatrick and one rare goal from Hypia. This will buy Benitez some time while this season goal is still the title!

A team without Steven Gerard and Fernando Torres is a team without a spine. Crouch tapped in a rebound and Riise scored an amazing own goal to draw the tie to Anfield. Luton was brave throughout the match dominating Liverpool. Rafa seems to lose it slowly, what can he do? We will only wait and see.

Liverpool's hope to capture the title is more likely over after they drew Wigan at Anfield 1-1. I guess its only left dreams and miracle for the top 3 teams to drop points. A slim chance still could achieve but realisticly its likely to be over... You never walk alone...

Man Utd falls at Upton Park again...

C. Ronaldo scored and missed one penalty helped West Ham to beat them again for the 3rd consecutive times. Anton Ferdinand became the unlikely hero to equalize while Matthew Upson scored his first ever goal for West Ham for the infamous win again. Chelsea on the other hand manage to beat Newcastle with a late goal 2-1. Tomorrow will be an opportunity for Liverpool to close the gap if they can beat Man City.
