Bangkok Trip Part 2: BKK First Day

Sorry for the ultimate long update for this trip. Bangkok taxis are pretty cool, even though most of them can't really speak well in English.

The taxi I took from the airport was pretty good. There's even a small panel advertisement at the back of the seat of the driver. Of course, in Thailand most of the taxis are Toyota Altis. Sad to say most taxis in Malaysia are Proton. Well, I'm driving Altis myself, felt ashamed that its only worth as a taxi in Bangkok.

The taxi driver was basically trying to show off his "pimped" taxi. There's a VCD player in his dashboard. And later on, he showed me some sexy Thai group MTV in bikinis. I was like wtf?

When reaching my bestie place, I saw Jusco and Carrefour. Little did I know that Jusco has already foot stepped in Bangkok.

After meeting my bestie, I put all my luggages at his place, I quickly went out to a nearby shopping mall.

My first stop was Central Ladprao. Central is a Thai owned shopping department that is pretty huge in Thailand. I was told that this Central Ladprao is normally visited by locals only. I hang out there for a few hours checking out the places before my dinner. Before that I had a Samurai Pork Burger in McDonalds.

I was brought to this Chinese Steamboat restaurant by my bestie. It was pretty good. The name is Ruen Pech, if not mistaken.

Then, we took a cab to Khaosan Road. Khaosan Road is a famous backpacker area. With lots of booze and food, it was a quite happening area at night.

After that, we proceed to Central World. I considered myself lucky as they were having a Heineken Beer Party at Zen World 18th Floor. It was really a very pleasant place to chill and hang out. Before midnight, we left the area and called it a day.

Part 3 will come very soon...

Why FHM Thailand Is Better?

I was walking around when I was in Bangkok and I saw a magazine store... so when my eyes were busy browsing thru the rack I saw.... The FHM Bag...

The FHM Bag reads... *This Bag Contains Nearly Naked Girls And Calendar 2009*

Enough said, I bought the FHM.

I will reveal the "sexy" calendars later on. For the mag, its in Thai, so I see pictures only. I paid 120 Baht for it (RM 12).

Something I Found In a Bangkok Taxi

Some might find it disturbing, some might find it weird....

However, if the sign is up means there were lots of people doing this in his taxi....

Please DO NOT FART... Taxi driver hates the smell....

Bangkok Trip Part 1: Reaching BKK

The first trip of the year 2009. Booked the flight last year and I was pretty excited about it. After a lovely 2 hours sleep on the airplane, the captain announced that we will be landing. The name of the airport is long... its quite hard to remember the whole name...

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport

Long right? The moment you in BKK (not Burger King Kingdom), you need to do something important. Change the time. They are 1 hour earlier than us. Since I'm on a free and easy and budget tour, I will be staying at my bestie's place near Chatuchak. While, he was busy working, I took a cab at the public cab stand (cheaper) and continues my journey.

Part 2 will be coming soon.. as I'm rushing now to SJMC....

McDonalds Samurai Pork Burger

McDonalds sells pork? I'm not kidding you!

Checked out no. 3, the infamous McD's Samurai Pork Burger! Well, of course this McD is not in Malaysia. Had this in Bangkok, Thailand.

To be frank, it was not that good... I prefer the normal ones...

Beware people, McD Thailand sells pork!!

Thailand's Latest Scandal: Four Mod secretly filmed while showering...

While I ran thru some forums yesterday and I find this quite interesting. Apparently, a pop teen sensation named Four Mod was secretly filmed in Khon Kaen, Northeast Thailand in one of their promo during Songkran. Like many scandals in Asia, it was made into VCD and sold in black market.

Four-Mod defined in Wikipedia

Four-Mod (โฟร์-มด) is a Thai pop duo consisting of two girls, Four and Mod, formed in 2005.

Twenty-one-year-old Sakonratt Worn-aurai (Four) and 16-year-old Chutimon Chairat (Mod) are currently at the top of Thailand’s girl-group heap. Since they made their debut two years ago, Four-Mod have been popping up everywhere — on TV, in the papers, on posters and on the radio.

Their bubblegum pop songs are popular in pubs and clubs, encouraging enthusiastic party-goers to get up and dance. The girls are keeping that energy going with their new album 'Wooo!', and a hectic, non-stop schedule. - Wikipedia

To make matter worst, they uploaded to YouTube. Well, which leads to the arrest of 3 Thai men.

Why do I blog about this? I tell you why. Many of us (Malaysians) traveled to Thailand. And things like this happened in a hotel. Of course, it could be happening in Malaysia which we all knew about it.

Their press conference in Thai... Don't u expect me to understand as well...

This is how the video looks like... of course this is not the real thing... Got this from YouTube...

Basically, to know certain things like this will make us more aware of the hotel room we stayed and the windows in the bathroom. Just hope they catch the culprits and bring them to justice....

Brave Thais gone down, End of Fairy Tales...

Despite getting themselves beaten by Aussie 4-0, Thais have must full salute. They did well today but missing luck! Finishing are poor and the score doesn't reflect the game at all. I'm proud to say that Thais are really fighters and warriors! They should be proud of what they have done in this tournament! Iraq and Aussie went thru to Q-finals. Japan Vs. Aussie at Q-Finals.. That's tough!

4 killed, 25 injured in Thailand...

A day after Hadyai, now at Songkhla market blast killed 4 including 2 children and wounding 25 more. It seems to be that its getting a bit scarier in Southern Thailand lately. Nobody claimed responsibility for both blasts. Read more here.

Hadyai Blast! 10 injured!

The fireworks are up again! This time in Hadyai, Thailand. Apparently the bombs exploded in rubbish bins so when you are in Thailand, clear off from the rubbish bins. I'm not kidding. The Bangkok bomb was in rubbish bins as well. This bombs are small, not made to kill but made to create unrest. Thailand is still a safe place to go, just a bit more careful. Phuket @ 30 Jan 2005, 1 Month after Tsunami

Phuket is a bit special to me because it was the first place I went to on plane in my life. It was 1992, I flew from Singapore to Phuket with my cousins and uncle and it marked as my first flying trip of my life. In my impressions, Phuket is one of the most beautiful places I've been through. When tsunami strikes Phuket on late Dec, 2004, I was quite devastated. However, in Jan I was told to help out a short shoot for the trip to Phuket, I never hesitated. Stories came from everywhere, from good to bad. Without much believing, I went to see to believe with my own eyes rather than listening to nonsenses and rumours.
This pic is taken at the famous Patong beach, it is clean as ever. The buildings behind this beach is still in the middle of reconstructions. I never smell anything or see anything as I was told, things like dead bodies, missing body parts or things like that.

As part of my job, I needed to shoot the month old anniversary of tsunami disaster at Patong Beach at night with other journalists and media from all over the world. The candles you see represent every single soul perished by the disaster. We were there till late and we didn't see any "extra" things as well. For the 2 nights we had our usual fun partying till late, walking on Patong beaches at 2-3am feeling the breeze of cool winds. To me it was a great experience where how people can turn a disaster place to a paradise again in weeks time. Its an effort to be praised and the respect for the local people who stands up independently and built up the area by themselves. Please remember that don't expect people to help you when you never try to help yourself at the first place. For this, I salute the Thais!
