Short Trip To Singapore

I went to a short trip to Singapore on Wednesday. Really tiring and the weather was so hot.

The trend in Singapore now is pay cut. Recession down under is getting worst. A met someone who is working from home now. He worked for an American company. Some employers took the opportunity to cut the salary of the workers. To them, its better to have pay cut then getting retrenched.

Looks like the recession is yet to hit us that badly yet. We will just have to wait and see.

China Square Central, Singapore

Toy Haven in Singapore especially the flea market on Sunday. Let me give some tips on how to go there. At MRT Station leave at China Town Station on EXIT E! Then turn on the left so the building u exited is on your left and walk straight till you see the building, or just ask anyone once u exited from the station.

Well Food Republic is on 4th Floor of Atria, Orchard Road. Food is not bad depending on stalls, value for money and great location.



Hand made Pan Mee noodles... I would recommend you to go but remember it is still a food court after all. :)

The Spanish Harlem Orchestra in Singapore International Salsa Festival

The Spanish Harlem Orchestra consists of 13 brilliant musicians and was founded in 2000. Their debut album was released in October of 2002 to immediate acclaim and worldwide recognition. In addition to winning Best New Artist at the 2003 Billboard Latin Music Awards, they were also nominated for a Grammy in 2002 for best Salsa Album Of The Year.

The best part is they performed at one of the nights. Basically we were dancing live with them. The dance floor was packed and they were awesome.

The Godfather of Salsa, Albert Torres

Founding Albert Torres Productions, Inc in 1994, Albert’s hard work and determination has made him the most successful West Coast promoter of Latin music and events, as well as a highly successful choreographer, dance agent, and his company manages some of Los Angeles’ premier Latin talent.

In 1996 Albert received the Best Salsa Club Promoter of The Year Award for Latin Music from The Latino Music Awards, acknowledging his success in bringing Salsa dancing and music to clubs throughout the Los Angeles area.

Albert Torres Production’s Salsa Nights brings an ever-growing throng of patrons and dancers to such clubs as The Hollywood Palladium, The Sportsmen’s Lodge, The El Rey Theater, The Hollywood Athletic Club, and The Ash Grove.

As Los Angeles’ top Latin music promoter, Albert has brought to the city such important artists as the legendary Cuban bands Los Van Van, NG La Banda, Orchestra Aragon, and Fania, as well as Grammy award-winners Eddie Palmieri and Larry Harlow and The Latin Legends.

Albert’s rise to success began when actor Armand Assante spotted him dancing at a salsa club. Albert applied his innate charm in interviewing established and up and coming Latin musicians, actors, and dancers.

And we are taking a picture with him, the funny guy and a cool guy indeed he is! The presence of him, brought so many international stars to Singapore International Salsa Festival. Bravo Albert Torres!!

It is a different exposure. Much different than MSF. It was a great Salsa event. Backed by the Godfather of Salsa, Albert Torres with bands from Indonesia's Primavera All Stars and Grammy Award Winner Spanish Harlem Orchestra! There were so much training, you couldn't even walk after a day's routine. Workshop overshoot more than an hour and the night party is madness. The performances are top class and I can't wait for next year's event!

I'm BACK!!

Singapore Salsa Festival was awesome, and I'm back in KL already. Going to work now! Will update with more pictures and "some" videos from festival. It's an eye opener, seriously! Laterz.....

Counting down to Singapore Salsa Festival....

Another few more days I will venture to an unknown territory. Sad to say, it has been weeks since I salsa. I am excited to go to Singapore, for Salsa and to meet up friends and their newborn juniors. Well, I'm counting the days to SISF now!

We were excited as we approached Union Square a salsa club here in Singapore. After paying SG 15 for 2 drinks, we changed our shoes and went in. The place is huge and they have live band which is much nicer. Most of the people there dances with more stylish than moves. Without wasting anymore time, me and Rachel sweat it out with a few songs. Tony danced with a hot chick named Jenny and later she was approached by another girl coz he was too sexy with his red dancing shoe. We hanged out there until 11 plus and we moved to MOS at Clark Quay. Its a totally different experience to me and I would love to go back there again.

Dragonfly, St. James Singapore @ 29th April 2007

After my supper and 3 clubs of the night, we went to Dragonfly around 3 am. The live band is one of the best. It was so damn good!

I was there around midnight after my salsa stint at Union Square. Party until 2 plus, too smoky. Great crowd and great music!

The travelling to Singapore @ 28 April 2007, Part 2

We had crossed the bridge, Michael was driving, we were excited! When we reached the immigration, Michael passed all the passports to the immigration guy and he asked the guy, "Do I put the smart card here?" Immigration guy replied, "Has this car entered to Singapore?". Michael answered "Yes, twice".
We puzzled because this is the first time I drove this car to Singapore. Immigration guy asked, "Is this your car?". Mike replied, "This is my card and I entered twice, but this is not my car".
Then Michael asked for Derek card. Michael coolly inserted Derek's card into the machine. Immigration guy asked Derek "Is this your card?" Derek answered "Yes." Immigration guy asked "Is your card registered with this car?" Derek answered "no".
Immigration guy asked Michael again, "Is this card with this car?" Michael answered yes.
We stopped Michael from making more confusing statements and Immigration guy asked us to purchase the autopass card at the office. Steph was mad at Michael "What are you saying Michael?"

Then he checked the passport and asked "Where is DEREK?". Derek answered, "It's me, here. I'm Derek". Immigration guy looked at the passport and looked at Derek in disbelief "You Derek ar?". Derek's passport photo look different from his current state so the immigration officer couldn't recognize him. We all laughed in the car!

Me, Derek and Tony went to buy the autopass card. Since Michael has used Derek's card, we need to cancel it or he will get problems with his car's next entry. Tony was saying Michael panic just now, we agreed. We went to the counter and the lady asked for 10 dollars for the autopass. I smartly asked "In ringgit ar?" She replied "In Singapore dollar". Tony and Derek was laughing. We told about Derek's card situation to them, the lady then said "We call for the enforcement officer to look at this". I looked at Tony and Tony started laughing.

Then she asked me and Derek "Are you guys together?". I answered "No, we are not "together" but traveling together." The enforcement officers came and deleted Derek's entry. We took our card and cabut.

Worrying about Mikey, I took back the driver seat and drove to our hotel with Derek's GPS.

The travelling to Singapore @ 28th April 2007 Part 1

The safest journey is you get me behind the wheels, we had our dim sum and started our journey around 11 am.
We had our petrol stops in Yong Peng town. Tony wanted check the tire pressure and helping me to get the tire pressurement right. Coz of the low pressure, Tony has to stay there around a minute to inflate tire, no wonder the car was so floaty. However, Tony enjoyed and you can tell from the picture.
Derek was doing at the thing he was good at, pumping petrol.
Overview of Yong Peng town. A quiet town until our presence...
We had to drive thru a mighty storm. Visibility almost zero.
However, an incredible driver like me never feared it. It was still manageable.
We had our KFC for lunch and headed our way to Second Link highway to Singapore. (TUAS highway)
